"There's poetry to be made from what nature discards..."
My work celebrates the intricate beauty of natural materials and their potential to be repurposed, highlighting the perfect imperfection of worn and patinated surfaces. Materials with a story to tell.
Hi Stacy welcome to the Woman Of Series! Can you tell us what it is you create?
My work is about embracing 'perfect imperfection' and repurposing materials that nature discards. I forage, weave, thread and shape natural materials to create sculptural and installation style pieces.
Talk us through your creative process. How do you reach your signature style?
I find inspiration everywhere! The materials I use have a huge influence also, as the coastal area I live in. I take that and run with it and my love of interiors always seems to influence my work. I always create a design with a space in mind.
What is your big hope and dream for your work?
To keep evolving and learning, to always be trying new things and pushing my own limits. I'd love for things to keep unfolding organically the way it has so far.
What are your top 3 superpowers?
Not sure if it's a superpower but my intuition is strong and I've learn over time to never ignore it, it's always right. My 'mum glare' is pretty good too... just ask my kids! No words required, the glare says it all!
We’re all about women inspiring women. Who inspires you?
Me too! I'm also inspired by anyone with passion and a fire in their belly - and the guts and determination to follow their dreams. People who are truly original inspire me too, long with those who are generous and humble.
What advice would you impart on the next generation of women?
When you find your passion follow it, hard! Don't take others' negativity on board. Build up your resilience and listen to your gut. And know at the end of the day everything will work out just as its meant to be x
