And just like that it's all over. But what a show it was, the style, the wonder, the pure imagination. We've said it already, but boy did we wish we were there for it all. AAFW has come to a wrap but will forever be in our heart.. and our IG saved folder.
While we had very little expectations after a cancelled show last year, this year blew our minds and truly moved us. From historical first nations runways to complete carbon neutral shows, to models wading through ocean waters. It really did have it all.
So who had us lusting after them and their iconic designs the most....
At the top of our list was First Nations Fashion Design showcasing a line up of seven first nations fashion designers, brought together by a team of indigenous models, production and back of house team to pull off one epic show complete with a welcome to country, native floral sculptural installation and a didgeridoo and dance performance.
Ginger and Smart's resort 22 collection 'Luminesce' was pure magic. Our pick, this luxe trench with oversized lapel.
It would not be the year 2021 without some in your face colour. We can't get enough of it at the moment and Yousef Akbar did not dissapoint. Not to mention the completely extra power puff vibes going on.
The Anna Quan runway was a BIG yes from us. Their '22 resort collection boasted the perfect amount of business at the front, party at the back vibes
and we want one of everything.
Let's talk about colour again, and then some more. Mariam Seddiq is bringing 80's colours back in all its glory.
Now let's all just take a minute for Christopher Esbers closing show. what. a. show. With his signature asymmetrical and cut out silhouettes and an added 90's nostalgia-esque vibe the collection was everything we imagined it would be, and more. Bravo.
