Ebony Busk is a self taught painter, her main medium being oil paint with which she paints portraits and the female form predominantly.
Hi Ebony, welcome to the Woman Of Series! Can you tell us what it is you create?
I predominantly paint portraits and the female form in oils. I want to celebrate the strength and power of a woman as well as the softness. I also paint portraits of people past and present, some as a celebration of late loved ones which has been an honour.
Talk us through your creative process. How do you reach your signature style?
I usually work on the likeliness and detail first and then balance the background with the main figure or subject. But I am forever growing, experimenting with and changing my process.
What is your big hope and dream for your work?
My biggest dream is to create art as my career for the rest of my life, and continue to find alignment and purpose while doing so. If I can leave some kind of legacy in the process that's a bonus. The greatest thing about what I do is being able to give someone a piece that truely means something to them, or gives someone a moment of joy or healing.
What are your top 3 superpowers?
1. Always being open to knew knowledge. 2. Self awareness. 3. Being an artist!
We’re all about women inspiring women. Who inspires you?
I have a lot of strong and amazing women in my life that inspire the hell out of me. As well as any one who is really pushing for what they want or where they want to be in life. And making the most out of what life has given them.
What advice would you impart on the next generation of women?
I would say work hard on your dreams, do exactly what YOU want to do in your life. Be kind to yourself! And don't always be polite, you don't have to be small and quiet.
