Creating is my happy place. Through the exploration of clay, I have formed new shapes, friendships and peacefulness. Each piece is thoughtfully made with love and time. I use the hand coiling technique for majority of my sculptures, although lately I have been experimenting with the age old practise of wheel throwing. These processes mean each piece is unique and hand made, to bring the earth back into our homes.
Hi Jedda, welcome to the Woman Of Series! Can you tell us what it is you create?
I create functional sculptures with clay.
Talk us through your creative process. How do you reach your signature style?
I am always inspired by formations from my natural environments which can be seen in the sculptures I make. I am currently working on new projects born from interest in the flow and form of roots and trunks of native Australian trees. I am also super interested in mysterious beyond earth, which is where my 'UFO' shape came from.
What is your big hope and dream for your work?
To turn my creative ideas into reality for the world to experience, for people to cherish it in their homes and to create relationships with like-minded, inspiring artists.
What are your top 3 superpowers?
Confident, warm-hearted and driven.
We’re all about women inspiring women. Who inspires you?
The women who inspire me most are the ones I hold close to my heart; my mum, sisters and friends.
What advice would you impart on the next generation of women?
Make time for yourself and loved ones, be in nature more and most of all get creative, wether it be cooking, gardening, painting etc. Do what makes you happy, be confident within, know your strengths and be a boss.
